Tourists with minor criminal records turned back at border
A person is arrested for shop lifting.
The person receives community service for restitution. If the community service is completed successfully, no conviction is shown on the persons record.
The person completes the community service successfully. No conviction shown on record.
Will this person still be turned back at the Canadian border?

The answer is "should not be" as shoplifting is not an excludable offense. Now, if you apply for status in the US the answer will be different. However, you are merely tourists and should be just fine.
