Re: working in the usa as a R2

As an R-1 Religious Exchange visa holder, your husband may be paid by the sponsor of the visa only. As an R-2 Dependent of an R-1 visa holder, you may receive no payment whatsoever from any U.S. source.

There may, however, be other legal options available to you should you wish to commence a corporation in the United States within the guidelines and restrictions of both the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service ("USCIS") and the Department of Labor ("DOL").

Please telephone the office to speak with an Attorney about your situation at (212) 618-1830.

R-2 does not permit for work in the U.S. However, the R-2 derivative may be able to independently qualify for work authorization in a different nonimmigrant visa classification. Please feel free to contact our office to discuss same. We represent clients as far West as Hawaii and as far East as the U.S. Virgin Islands.
