Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Washington
Publishing to protect IP
If I want to publish an idea or invention to protect my freedom to use it, is there any threshold as to how many people my publication can reach? For example, what if I mention the idea in a blog and only a few people has read it, could my idea still be protected?

Unfortunately, intellectual property law does not protect ideas. You must reduce the idea to practice. For example, if you an idea for a book, you must write the book in order to have it protected. If you have written something you cannot have published it prior to seeking protection.
