Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington

calling me at work

I am making regular payments on a medical bill. The main headquarters in another state continues to call me during my work hours, despite repeated requests not to call during certain hours. I was told they would continue to call as long as I owe on the account. Is this legal?

I doubt it. Start by sending a certified, return receipt letter to the highest level person you can in the organization and ask them to cease and desist.

Another approach - if you can afford it - is to see if they would take a settlement of a lower amount then you owe if you give them a lump sum. You may have to borrow the lump sum elsewhere, so be sure to compare interest rates and determine what is best for you. But if you paid them off, you'd get them off your back that way.

Good luck!
