Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington

Contract

I was employed by The Washington State Liquor Control Board, I had a contract with them stating that I would be Certified through the Washington Academy CJTC, but the Liquor Board was unable to get me into that Academy. I had to sign a different contract with the Liquor Board to leave my family and attend the Idaho Post Academy. I have since gone through that academy and decided to leave the liquor board, I have found out, I am not certifide as a police officer in any State, what are my options? I may loose the job I have now, and may no longer be able to go back to the liquor control board. Any opinion will help.

Re: Contract

Lots of pieces to the puzzle are missing here. I would need to know what each of your contracts said and why the Liquor Board was unable to get you into the WA Academy CJTC. Unless there is something unusual in the employment contracts, though, it would appear that your former employer trained you to do a job for them, and you have found that the training did not transfer to another position. While that's disappointing, unless either contract contains something out of the ordinary, I suspect there is no remedy through legal action available for you. But I would need to look at the contract.

Sorry I can't be more help.
