Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington

Demotion and Pay Decrease

My fiance was promoted a few months ago to a lead position at his company and then this morning told he would be receiving a demotion and pay decrease for what he called, ''grasping at straws'' reasons. Can the company legally decrease his pay if they have a written disciplinary plan on the books and have not followed it?

Usually, no. They should follow the disciplanary plan. Are there any exceptions for how long a person has been in a position?
