Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington
employee gives 2 weeks notice to quit
If an employee gives his employer a two-weeks notice that he is quitting, is the employer obligated in any way (legally or financially or otherwise) to keep the employee on the job for 2 weeks, or can the employment be terminated anytime? fyi, i'm asking this under the scenario of an ''at-will'' employment relationship where either party can terminate the employment for any reason and at any time.

Re: employee gives 2 weeks notice to quit
In an "at will" context (in other words, no contract in place), the employer has no obligation to keep the employee during the employee's notice period. The same rules apply as when the employee has NOT given notice; the employer can end employment for a good reason, a bad reason, or no reason at all, so long as it is not an illegal reason.
