employment

asked on job application if convicted of felony. answered no, but after background check they found i was charged with 3rd degree misdemeanor theft but not convicted but they said i had been dishonest with them and will not employ me.

Merry is correct, but while you are writing, you might point out that not only were you not convicted (and the application only asked for convictions) but a misdemeanor is not a felony.

Another place you might go for guidance with this situation is Offender Employment Services, which is a division of Employment Security. I know; you were not convicted, so you are not an offender. However, I have found them very helpful in understanding what the law is and what protections may be available for those trying to overcome problems with their records.

You could write to the head person and explain that you answered the question asked correctly. They didn't ask you about charges.

I don't think they can do anything, but you can try contacting the Human Rights Commission.
