Re: help dont know what to do

The fact that the doctor released him to work (is that what you mean by the "release" that the supervisor is showing around?) does not mean that he was not injured and it does not mean that he is not entitled to file an L & I claim.

It looks as though your husband may have a defamation claim, and there is also a law specifically against retaliating against employees who file L & I claims, which appears to be what is going on here. In addition, there might also be a HIPAA violation, because of the unnecessary disclosure of his medical information to his fellow employees.

Your husband may want to consider his options before proceeding with legal action. however. If he is now able to go back to work, or soon will be, and if things settle down with no adverse effect on his working conditions, enforcing his rights might not be in his best interests. However, if he finds himself demoted or subject to an ongoing hostile work environment, he might want to consider finding an attorney.
