Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington

Injury on the job & medical bills.

A woman who worked off her rent by working at the barn (on same property) was kicked in the head by the owners/employers horse and was airlifted to Harborview last year. She has tons of bills and no way to pay them. Since she was not on the payroll of the land/barn owner, can she sue for medical damages? If not, is there any other recourse to handling the medical bills or is bankruptcy her only option?

I would be happy to discuss some options with you. For example, it may be that the property owners have "med-pay" insurance coverage that would help with at least some of the bills. Please feel free to contact me at your convenience.

Also, it may be possible that the injured party would be entitled to workers' compensation benefits (even if she was not strictly speaking an "employee" for some purposes).
