Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington

L& I and personal

I am on L& I and have requested light duty. I returned to work on the 17th of March. I was there 4 days when we had a licensing problem and the owners daughter threatened us to be transfered. I then proceeded to take personal belongings from daycare when she would not allow me to do so and kicked me off the property saying I was being transfered. Never told me where or what my hours are. I have called into work to find this info out everyday since the 21st. No one will return my call. What do I do since they are refusing to inform me of where to report for work?

It sounds like you are being discharged for illegal reasons (you filed an L & I claim, and you asked for reasonable accomodation for your disability.) I would sent the owner a letter by certified mail, return receipt requested, spelling out what happened and confirming that you have not abandoned your job but are waiting for your transfer information.

If that doesn't work, you may want to speak with an attorney.

File a complaint - for free - with L&I. It sounds as though you've been mistreated for having filed for worker's comp.

Good luck!
