Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington

Labor Laws

I am a 100% commission sales rep,not salaried!

Does my employer have the right to require us to attend meetings during our time off , without paying us??

Example: A meeting out of town on a weekend, when we are always off work on the weekends!

Thank you!

Re: Labor Laws

Is any part of your commission guaranteed? If so, then you are an exempt worker and can be required to put in the time without additional pay. If your commission is based entirely on sales (no sales equals no commission or compensation of any kind), then your boss should not be requiring you to attend off hour meetings without compensation. Enforcing that could admittedly be difficult.
