Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington

Question about HR

I spoke to my HR director and told her a complaint confidantially and she gave me my word it would remain that way. The next day she told one of my peers that I had already complained about the situation he was complaining about and used my actual name when speaking with him. What should I do? I am being harrassed by my direct report and I can't trust HR to communicate/stop this behavior. I am worried about reprecutions of my complaints. Thanks!

Re: Question about HR

I'm confused - you're being harrassed by someone who reports to you? That doesn't make sense.

I think you should put something in writing to the HR Director. Say something like "I spoke with you in confidence on X date." On Y date you shared confidential information. As a result of your revealing confidential information, the following has occurred/is occurring.

The important point is to put this in writing so that it's documented.

Good luck.
