Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington

Possible termination from position

I'm in a struggle with my supervisor, who wants to remove me from my position as manager over a crew of ten. I've been warned not to retaliate against any of my employees that I feel may have given damaging testimony about my job performance to my supervisor. I've been told that if I engage in such retaliation, I could be summarily fired without the customary four steps to firing outlined in company policy. I fear that my employer is about to invoke this ''retaliation'' to fire me for a supposed action against an employee who walked out in the middle of a shift. This employee is likely to say that I hounded (read ''retaliated'') him out of his job. And my employer may use this claim to fire me. Do I have any legal recourse?

Re: Possible termination from position

You are in a tough position. Is this company worth working for? Is being a manager worth it? These are questions you have to ask yourself.

I would suggest that you and your immediate supervisor meet with the next person up the chain and calmly try to work things out. Try to understand their concerns and where they're coming from. Compromise if necessary.
