Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington
Washington State Workplace Rights
My wife has a pre-existing medical condition that her work knew about when they hired her, about 8 months ago. This medical condition (which impares vision) can cause her to miss work 3 to 4 times a month due to doctors appts or due to the medical condition itself (having a bad day). Can she be terminated for attendance?

Re: Washington State Workplace Rights
She can be but shouldn't be. She needs to provide her employer with medical verification that she has a condition that requires medical visits as an accommodation. The doctor need not disclose what the condition is, but he or she should state that it's "medically necessary" for her to make the medical appointments.
Your wife should talk with her supervisor about attending these appointments without it being a problem for the employer. For example, can she make up the time by working longer?
Good luck.
