Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Washington
Check to wrong person
Situation: I wrote a check to adopt a kitten from a 13 year old girl. The 'Pay to the Order of' section was blank, we expected the girl to fill it in herself and cash it. Somehow it got written out to her land lord. The check bounced and now the land lord is coming after me saying I owe her $45. Is she right?

Your job is to make the check good to the 13year old. Cash, perhaps? Create a receipt. But you didn't write the check to the landlord, the girl did. You owe the 13 year old the money, not her landlord. In my opinion.
