Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Washington

Collecting past due rent from Eviction judgement

How do I collect past due rent and court fees that total over $6,000? What is the best way since I need this money Right now from all the damage they did to my house? I would hate to see these people who had 3 other full evictions on them get away with this! Please let me know.

Re: Collecting past due rent from Eviction judgement

Frequently people who cannot pay their rent are tough to collect money from. Your best way is to hire an attorney to do the collection. If the defendants can be located and they have assets, the attorney fees you have to spend to collect the judgment are recoverable pursuant to statute from the defendants/judgment debtors.

If you had provided a zip code I could have offered names. You can look up collection attorneys by location at avvo.com (a v v o).

Hope this helps, Elizabeth Powell
