Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Washington

confidentiality

I live in an apartment complex, I had reported the maintenance mangers son and future stepson to the security company for shooting out a security light around a parking area with a bb-gun. Ever since then, the maintenance manager and his fiance` have been snubbing us when we say hi to them. Apparently he found out we were the ones that reported his son and stepson for doing what they did that night from the main manager. My wife found out from the office workers that not even the maintenance manager is suppose to know who reported him to security. What can be done?

Re: confidentiality

Did you report this to the police?

Please consider that persons who are accused of unlawful conduct have a right to confront their accusers.

On the other hand, statements that witnesses make to police are absolutely privleged - you cannot be sued over this.

What you can do is calm down. The person who shot out the light deserves to face consequences for this, and if their response is to get defensive, then you struck a nerve.

Lucky no one was hurt.
