Halfway House

I have just found out a halfway house has opened acroos the street housing level 3 sex offenders.Can this single family dwelling be turned into a halfway house without telling the residents living next door?Is there anything we can do about it? many thanks

You need to start with the City's ordinances regarding siting of sex offender housing, and the permits for this property (the one across the street).

Talk to the City's Building and Land Use Department. There may be a permitting process that all ready happened (this IS Tacoma) without giving you notice and an opportunity to respond. Can't tell from your question, but I agree with you that it seems apparent that you should have notice. Demand to see the planning and permitting file.

If there is no permit allowing multi-family housing at this address, be sure to tell the City what you learned, where, and what your concerns are.
