Re: landlord charging me for his loss

Your notice on the 14th is too late to end your tenancy effective the 30th, because there are not 20 days between the 14th and the 30th.

Whether or not your landlord (tenant in chief?) loses his deposit depends on what he's contractually obligated to do to reclaim it.

If it is a security deposit, he may well wind up forfieting it for failing to give adequate notice.

The way to fix this is to re-new the notice and tell the actual landlord it will be effective the end of the NEXT month. That way you don't forfeit anything.

He has to articulate his loss before deciding it is your responsibility. I can't tell from your question.

Hope that helps. Elizabeth Powell
