rental house makes my daughter sick

we have told the landlord about it, and have now decided that we need to move out. he wants to charge us rent until it's re-rented and we lose the deposit of $1500.

Don't take legal advice from your landlord. Even if he is a lawyer, he has a vested interest in having you agree with his position.

You need to read Title 59 Chapter 18 of the RCWs. There is a way to give notice and get out (in writing) if the place is that bad. There is also a way to get money to relocate and have no further duty to your landlord.

If you need more help than this, call the county Bar for a referral or to get the time and place of the next clinic.
