Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Washington
roomates privacy
If you pay a third of the rent between two other roomates, are you legally allowed to enter their rooms and take back what belongs to you, ie, dishes, bowls, makeup, etc.?

Re: roomates privacy
No. Tenants have no right to enter the private space of other tenants unless there is an emergency. Lost dishes are not an emergency; a fire is an emergency.
Running off with dishes and utensils which belong in the kitchen is just bad manners. If this behavior runs its course there will come a point where there won't be anything to eat with.
That would be a good moment to suggest returning the dishes and utensils.
This isn't a legal question, really, its a manners problem. The solution is better communication, not a lawsuit.
Hope this helps. Powell
