Re: Tenant law

You still have to pay rent, if that's what you are asking.

The purchase and sale of a building has nothing to do with your duty to pay rent as a condition of your continuing tenancy.

In WA, you don't have to have a written lease, although it is to your advantage to have one.

Even if you have not negotiated a contract or rental agreement, you still have a duty to pay the same amount of rent at the same time to the new owner.

The old owner is obligated to hand over your deposit money and to tell you in writing to whom you should pay the rent once the building is sold.

If you have any questions, ask the old owner.

This is NOT a rent holiday.

Hope this helps - Powell
