Awol Basic Training
Hell all i wanted to know info on a Friend of mine who went awol. he is 20 year's old never and went to Fort sill in oklahoma state he kept trying to get discharged but they never let him . One he couldent really do anything he kept trying but couldent and two he's grand had cancer and he wanted to be with her. well he went for xmas to visit faimly and didnt return hes captin called hes mom once and said he dont want him in army. and hes not gonna send anyone after him. hes mom called cops to see if any warrent nothing on him. im just wondering whats is maxiuam punishment if he returns. cause hes captin said he wont go to jail or anything he just needs to go to oklahoma state fort sill to get hes dishornably discharge papers. sorry if this dont make sense to some people i got horable spelling and bad grammer.

After 30 days an AWOL soldier is converted from AWOL to deserter. Desertion in a time of war is considered a very serious charge. It would be in your friend's best interests to go report back to Sill and take his dishonorable discharge. He will likely spend a week or two in jail, but he will be discharged and free of the army after that point. The longer he remains AWOL, the longer he won't be able to do anything that involves even the simplest of background checks.
