Legal Question in Personal Injury in Washington
About 1 month ago, I parked my car at a long-term parking facility in Seattle. Upon my return, I found my bumper smashed in and nearly torn off. I asked the owner of the facility if his insurance company would cover this damage; however, he insisted the damage didn't happen there.
I then called the local police to file a report. The responding officer assessed the damage and informed the owner that he could clearly see the damage was recent and suspected it happened at his facility. The officer then informed the owner that if his investigation proves the damage happened there, criminal charges would be filed against him but the owner continued to insist it didn't happen there and he would not pay for the damage.
What recourse do I have?

I think the officer was doing you a favor and bring pressure on the owner. I can't think of any criminal charge that can be brought simply for disagreeing with someone about what happened. You'll need to make the claim to your insurance company who will them seek recompense from the insurance company of the owner. Also, to cover any deductible, you can sue the owner in small claims court.
