Legal Question in Personal Injury in Washington

my grandaughters free range turkey got out into the road a car swerved to avoid it and cause an accident, not bad, just a fender bender, the sherriff came and stated to us that he could not issue any tickets because fowl can go were they want, this happened several months ago, today we recieved a phone call from an insurance company stating that we are being sued for $3000 for medical bills!! can they make us pay?

I don't know the answer offhand, but you should contact your OWN homeowners or renters insurance, or your granddaughter's homeowners or renters insurance. If you have insurance, they will figure it out and will deal with it. You should ask to get something in writing from this supposed insurance company that called you. Then you can know exactly what they're talking about, and it might reduce the possibility of a fraudulent request. Anyone can call you and claim to be anybody, so get that letter and take it to your own insurer, or if you have no insurance, to a local attorney who might be familiar with this area of the law.
