Legal Question in Personal Injury in Washington

Videotaped Without Consent

I recently found out that someone I had a sexual relationship with had secretly videotaped the two of us having sex. To make it even worse, he's been showing the tape to people who have come to his house. I wouldn't have ever known if he hadn't shown it to someone who had the decency to tell me. Is this legal? Even if it is against the law, is there anything I could even do about it? After all, it's basically something he could just deny, right? Do I have any legal recourse at all, or should I just hope it never makes it to the internet?

Re: Videotaped Without Consent

Yes you do have rights and it can't be recorded without your consent. You can get a restraining order and damages.

Mr. Kornfeld is absolutely correct, but to clarify, a restraining order is a court order that would require your ex boyfriend to destroy the tape and block him from ever showing it to anyone again.
