Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Washington
My car was stolen and completely destroyed by the thieves. I was forced to sell what was left because I had no place to store the car. Days later I discovered a posting online, followed up, and found the thieves selling my car's parts and stereo equipment. The police arrested them, got back the parts, but the car was sold, so they gave the parts to that gentleman. They gave me my stereo equipment and effects and told me I would be receiving restitution for my complete property loss.
I received a letter today telling me my case was closed. The letter was very vague. What does this mean?

Typically this would be a criminal law question. Without knowing what the letter said, it is difficult to say what it means. There may be a restitution order on the value of the car, which would mean that payment on the restitution is a condition of completing probation.
