we were told from the city that we had to vacate it isnt their some kind of permit we can get we are having our house built and needed some time she doesnt care we stay their

If this is happening in WA, you can go review the city codes regarding RV storage and living in an RV on real property.

The city can control whether RV's are allowed and whether people can live in them. The fact that this is temporary while you are having a house built is not relevant.

The city may have a permit provision, and they may not.

If the RV was completely out of sight of the street, it might not be such a big issue. Sounds as though a neighbor complained.
