Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Washington
roofing co. lien
My sister hired a company to roof her house. They have not finished the job and now she has recieved a certified letter from the roofing supplier saying she needs to include their name on any payment sent to the roofing co. or they will put a lien on her house. Can they do that? She never had any contact with the supplier or a contract with them.

Re: roofing co. lien
The supplier is merely requesting that when your sister pays, they should be named in the "pay to" line of the check as well as the general. The subs/suppliers have a right to get paid as well.
Before this goes any further, she should contact Labor and Industries to determine if the contactor is licensed and bonded.
