Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Washington

Vehicle Inpoundment

My motorhome was inpouned from my property ( My father owned property) The City of Union Gap, WA Code inforcement said there city ordanance impounded the vehicle under RCW 46.55 Which the motorhome was under no such critera. It states that, any contest to the impoundment of said vehicle must be made within 10 days of redeeming the vehicle or attempting to redeem said vehicle. I just became aware of the impoundment 2 weeks after impoundment. Am I too late to contest it? In was a nice motorhome (10 years old), it ran great and was well maintained. They have been harrassing me for some time, now... They had given me two weeks notice to clean up my property or, they would impose fines and inpound vehicles. One week later (Not two weeks), they impounded there first vehicle, my motor home! Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter. Sincerely,--name removed--

Re: Vehicle Inpoundment

How did you not notice it was missing?

There is a process by which you can contest an administrative proceeding before the courts get involved, but at this stage it may well be too late.

If you spell out your understanding of the timeline you were afforded and show how the ordinance was not properly followed, you may be able to contest this. Please remember though that municipalities are able to enforce their codes and ordinances, and can also lawfully impose fines.
