Legal Question in Traffic Law in Washington

4 year old Speeding ticket in AZ.

I live in Washington state. I acquired a speeding ticket in Holbrook, Arizona 4 years ago. The Holbrook court says the only way to take of the ticket is to travel from WA to AZ. There must be another way ?!? I cannot afford to travel and take days off work. I have no other offenses, just the speeding ticket. In order for me to obtain a license in WA I need to take care of the speeding ticket I obtained in AZ. What can I do?

Re: 4 year old Speeding ticket in AZ.

First off, talk to the clerk one more time in Holbrook, and ask whether you need to be there just to plead guilty, presuming that's what you want to do. Ask them if you can have a hearing by telephone, and if they want, that you'll send them the bail amount ahead of time.

If that won't work, find a lawyer in Holbrook to at least advise you wheher the lawyer can just show up for you, to take care of it. You might even ask the court clerk if they know any lawyers locally who handle traffic infraction cases.

If you end up HAVING to go to Holbrook, this is the town that has (or at least used to have) the famous kitschy motel that's made of Indian-style concrete tipis. Each room is a separate little tipi building. Worth a look for it's oddness, if nothing else.

Good luck! -- Sam
