Legal Question in Traffic Law in Washington
Audio recording an officer during traffic stop
I was curious if it's legal to record a conversation with a police officer during a traffic stop, say using a cell phone, without informing him.
After reading RCW, it seems the real question is if the conversation is considered private and/or privileged. As well as if my vehicle is considered my property.
Thank you.

Re: Audio recording an officer during traffic stop
Under Washington law, it is illegal to record a conversation with anyone without their knowledge and consent. It can also be a criminal charge against the recording person. Further, the recording cannot be used in a court of law. There you go! Good Luck!
