Legal Question in Traffic Law in Washington

One of our company trucks hit my car

So, 4 months ago one of our company trucks hit my car and i was told to get an estimate and it would be taken care of, and today I was told to turn it in to my insruance as a hit and run and they would cut me a check for my deductiable. I have NO tickets and No accidents on my record and this would make my insurance go up, this is a brand new car and i have full coverage, but I dont' belive it's legal to file a claim for a hit in and run if I know who hit my car....

Re: And they won't give 1/2 of the premiums they save?!

Your employer is putting you in a tight spot. However, things could potentially get much worse if the insurance company learns the truth of the matter.

First, your insurance company will most likely require the filing of a police report (hit and run is a crime). Filing a false report is a crime.

You are not only asked to carry the risk of higher premiums, but the risk of prosecution for fraud. Is your job worth it? More importantly, is working for an employer who makes such a request seem to be the career path you want to follow?

I am not suggesting that you engage in any such collusion, but if the employer is particularly fond of this scheme, why does he not present a claim to his insurer suggesting the phantom vehicle struck your vehicle on company property?

No fault, no liability. Committing a criminal act will only buy you trouble.
