Legal Question in Traffic Law in Washington

I'm being sued by the passenger of a car I bumped

I bumped a car entering an interstate off an onramp. Now the passenger is suing me, a year later for great pain physical and mental, past and future. But I bumped them at 40mph, sure it screwed up their trunk but no one asked for medical assistance at the scene. This passenger even told the officer he was more freaked out than anything becuase he had been in an accident earlier that week. I have no idea what kind of lawyer I'm supposed to hire, or what difference it makes now that I live accross the country. I also make next to nothing, I'm an intern, I don't even make minimum wage! I don't want to pay for suffering I didn't cause, and I really can't afford to either, what do I do?

You turn this over to your insurance company ASAP and they hire the lawyer to defend you.
