Legal Question in Traffic Law in Washington
Validity of unsigned traffic tickets
Is it a state law or something in Whitman County in WA that says traffic tickets no longer have to be signed by the defendant? According to the traffic ticket form it says I acknowledge the ticket and will respond properly, since they don't change the document according to the law can this point be challenged in the court?

Re: Validity of unsigned traffic tickets
Since June 7, 2006 the court rules (IRLJ) regarding traffic infractions were changed to no longer require a signature from the person receiving the notice of infraction. Most law enforcement simply stamp or print the words "given to above named person" in the blank that was previously use for the signature of the receiving party.
