Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington
Assets covered by a will
I have only my son as beneficiary named in my will. If he happens to expire before I do, will his wife be able to acquire the assets without my having to change my will, or is some type of codicil required?

It is highly unlikely that your son's wife would receive the residue of your estate if your son predeceased you absent a provision in your will. It is more likely that some distant relative would have more of a legal right to your estate per the Washington Intestate provision of the RCW. I would strongly suggest you execute a codicil or new Will.
