Court appointing of personal representative of deceased

What is the process for being appointed by the courts as personal rep of my daughter's estate. Only the IRS so far has demanded that for return of her 2000 tax refund.

Re: Court appointing of personal representative of deceased

You must petition the superior court of a county in Washington to appoint you as Personal Representative. While you may petition and complete the probate on your own, my experience as an attorney and as a former Personal Representative has been that it is well worth the approximately $1,000-$3,000 to pay a competent attorney to complete most of the bureaucracy for you.
