Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

Death and financial responsibility of a parent

Are my parents and aunts and uncles going to be held responsible for my irresponsible grandfather's monetary scams if he dies? My Dad has stayed out of it but the rest of his siblings are up to their eyeballs in feeling and being responsible for my grandfather's actions.

Re: Death and financial responsibility of a parent

It is not possible to become a guarantor of a decedent's debts without a writing (a contract) promising to pay those bills.

Google "statute of Frauds" - the information is out there.

Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
