Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

How do I disinherit? I'm on SSI

Hello - My mother recently passed away. She had me as a beneficiary with my sister to her IRA. I'm on SSi and can not inherit this as I would loose my medical benefits. I was told at my mothers bank I can disinherite this (around 5,000) and have it go to someone else I name, but that I need a lawyer to do this. Is there a form I can fill out and how do I do this? I do not want to loose my SSI benifits. I know my mother meet to help me ... but what a nightmare. I'm in Washington State, but my mother died in Oregon. I am 54 years old.

You should restate this question as an OR law-probate. I think there is an answer that would let you get the benefit of the money and not lose your SS benefits, but you should get it from an OR attorney.
