Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

Is the executrix just a legal signer on documents?

I am the executrix of my aunts estate. Her children keep telling me that I am only a legal signer on documents and have no buisness making decisions on selling her home. Such as getting a realitor etc. Is this true or is it my legal responsibility to be in charge of the selling of her home?

Thank you!

With the usual disclaimer of not having seen the Will, etc., the decedent's children are absolutely INCORRECT. You are not merely a legal signer but have been given the authority to distribute the estate. You may do so in the most fair and reasonable fashion as long as you follow the wishes of the decedent. However, you are also personally liable for any unreasonable conduct on your part.

It depends on the will, but you would typically have power to make such decisions.
