expired no will

My brother passed away suddenly without a will. What do I need to do to start the process for probate, he is single, no children and only two old vehicles for property?

You may be able to do a settlement of an estate with no probate if the assets are less than $60,000. You will need to consult an attorny before proceeding as you will also then need todo a nonprobate notice to creditors and other paperwork. Good Luck!

Slight correction to Jahnis' answer: An estate less than $100,000, not $60,000, which is old law.

Ms. Abelite is correct - WA is a very easy place to probate an estate whether there is a will, or not.

My only caveat is this: If he owned his home or any real property, it has to be probated.
