Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

How do I find out if a will exists, and if so, acquire a copy from the state of Washington?

First reply (11/1):

The answer to your question depends on several factors: You have not said whether the person (testator) is dead. You have not said whether you think the will is filed in a registry, you have not said whether the estate is being probated, you have not said what your relationship is the person.

Follow up info:

-Testator is dead.

-Don't know the disposition of any will at all, if it exists. She died in the state of Washington, previously a resident of New York.

- Estate has been probated, if I understand the meaning of the term. As soon as she died, I know that her own family, and last caregivers, said they were contacting an attorney regarding the estate.

- She was my deceased father's 3rd wife, but neither mother nor step-mother.

If there is a will in the State of Washington, am I entitled to a copy? How would I proceed?

Thank you

If the will was probated and not sealed you typically can find a copy of the will in the county it was filed.
