Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington
greedy aunt
My father past away, he and my mom have been divorced for many years, so it's just me and my brother, but my father's only sibling(sister)is mad because the day after we buried him she thought I should go through his stuff and give her what she wanted. And now she's thretening to take us to court. Does she have any legal claim without the will, which we haven't found yet?

Re: greedy aunt
Probably not. You need to do your best to find the will and see what your Dad wanted to have happen with his stuff before distributing it.
Please accept my condolences on your loss. Please also know that it is fairly typical that other persons who knew and loved the decedent deal with their grief by lashing out at the survivors.
You should look through his stuff and contact the attorney who wrote the will. Also, ask the clerk at the court house whether your father's will was filed there for safekeeping. Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
