Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

My Best Interests

My brother is Executor/Personal Representative of my mother's Will, He is not on good terms now with me because before my mother passed away she gave my daughter $10K and didn't give his kids anything. He asked me to give $10K out of my half to one of his kids. I refused. Questions: Does either the Estate Attorney or the Personal Representative have any legal obligation to keep me informed as to Probate or ditribution of assets from a Will? Should I hire an Attorney to look out for my interests? I suspect my brother might try and get the $10K one way or the other

Re: My Best Interests

A person named in a Will is a beneficiary and must be informed of the assets, liabilities and any disbursements from the estate. The attorney handling the estate must send this information to the beneficiaries. To get a copy of documents filed, contact the County Courthouse Probate Division in the County where your parent resided and request a copy of the file.
