Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington
power of attorney
My mom gave me power of attorney when we lived in Oregon. We've now moved back to Wa. Is the POA valid in WA? Also, it doesn't say if it's gen.,durable or ?, it just says poa at top of page, is that ok?

Re: power of attorney
A POA executed in OR can be valid in WA, depending on what it says in the body of the document. For WA, it needs to be acknowledged (notarized). The body of the document will say whether it is durable (written to stay in place and obviate the need for a guardianship) or general. "General" in this context doesn't tell me enough to advise you.
Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
