Re: probate case search

Just to clarify, you will be going to the SUPERIOR COURT CLERK'S OFFICE of the County where the probate was processed. It does not necessarily have to be in the county where your father died or resided but in most cases it will be. In Washington a probate can now be processed in any county regardless of the residence of the decident or the location of the real property. If you know the executor and they live in a different county you could also check that county as well if you come up empty in the county where your father resided or where his real property, if any, was located.

Go to the County Courthouse in the county where he died. Go to the Clerk's office. If you are in King Co., the clerk's office will help you search for records on their computer. (Mind you, they get very touchy if you ask for legal advice, but they can help with clerical questions.) In the smaller counties, the clerk will either assist you with a computer search or fetch you the file.
