MY wife and I didn't have a problem with that. He agreed to help out for him staying. After two chilren and a third on the way we were in need of a bigger home. Our credit wasent good enough so the mother in laws boyfriend said he would help.we purchased a used mobile homebig enough for us,but I had to sighn my land over for 10.00 dallers in 1993 ,but he said he would sighn it back over. I was desperate at the time and I trusted him so the wife and I did as he asked. Soon after we built a garage to go with home in 1995. MY wife and I raised our family here. In dec.2005 the mother in laws boyfriend had gottin married but he neglected to tell us. he passsed away in sept.2007. his widow is trying to take my and my wifes home of 20 years. So that she can sell it.

Re: property dispute

This is far to complex a set of issues to make a clear statement on. I see potential issues of: adverse possession, statute of frauds (relates to details of documentation of transfer of interest in real estate). There are several facts that may be documentable that would affect my opinion on this. I presume this is a major asset and you should discuss this directly with an attorney.

I concur with Mr. Steuart -- get a lawyer. Sometimes the expense of a lawyer is the cheapest money you can spend. This would have been true 20 years ago and it is true now. And the sooner you get a lawyer's assistance, the cheaper it will be--not cheap necessarily, but certainly cheaper than the loss of your property.
