Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

Trying to secure posession of bonds from parents

My parents have bonds in my name in a safe deposit box that I don't have access to, and they will not give them to me. I am 23 years old and need the money for grad school. They claim I will waste the money, but if the bonds are in my name can't I access them on demand now that I am no longer a minor?

What can I do to get my bonds? I am no longer a minor and they are in my name. I threatened to get a lawyer and they just laughed. I am not sure how to proceed. Also, they and the bonds are in California and I am in Washington.

Re: Trying to secure posession of bonds from parents

You need a California lawyer to assist you. It is a replevin problem, but the property is in California, not Washington.

You could also use a v v o dot com to look for an attorney who is licensed in both states.

Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
