Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington
uncollected child suppport
The states of idaho, washington and oregon were unable to collect child support from my exhuband for years even though he was able to own and sell valuable property throughout those years and had liensplaced against at least one of those properties. His family had a hand in helping him escape his responiblities to his son and mine, who is now 29. The grandpajust died leaving his son a considerable amount of trust and nothing to my son, his grandson, even though they were very close and my son was the only one that comforted him while he was dying. Can I do anything thing. Is it too late to file past charges of spousal abuse and neglect and child abuse and neglect? I have waited for years for them to make this right and they haven't. These are very well to do people while my son and I have worked and scraped alll these years to make it. I would like to include the mother in this also and she has protected her son from the law many times and never cared if her grandson was eating or not. I want my back child support of at least $13,000 and more for pain, neglect and suffering. Is this possible? We have been divorced for 20 years. I know they cheated support enforcement services, I just need help proving it.

Re: uncollected child suppport
Your problem is the statute of limitations, and who precisely you are going to collect child support from - that is the duty of the obligor to pay - and you may have let it go on too long. I can't say without knowing more about the collection efforts.
You should contact the prosecutors who assisted you in attempting to collect support and see if your claim is still timely or if it has lapsed.
If the obligor is still alive and the claim has not lapsed then a court may well place a lien on his new $ for your back obligation.
Likely it is too late to claim abuse/neglect; again, the prosecutor can review what has been filed and sort it out for you.
